To a large extent, this blog was motivated by fear and uncertainty. I've ended quite a bit of my uncertainty by---
Reenlisting. Yeah.
After talking with the 1SG about my fears and uncertainties, I decided I wanted to try to get a new job in the Army. Mechanic or something. Turned out to be an unproductive hassle, and truth be told I really like being a Soldier.
If I fear that my children will not be taken care of in my absence, I'm showing a lack of faith in my Wife's abilities.
So I signed up for 6 years as a 56M (Chaplain's Assistant) with the unit I've been drilling with. I took the $10k (after taxes) bonus, combined it with my wife's end-of-the-year bonus, and we bought a minivan, paying 2/3 up front to get the payments low.
Things have been pretty good since then. We have a Chaplain finally - well, actually a Chaplain Candidate. The "official rumor" has changed from a probable deployment in 2009 to a probable not being deployed in 2009.
That's why it's been so long since I posted. I haven't been stressed out.
